LaVeta was born in Loveland, Colorado and spent her childhood there and in Casper, Wyoming. She has also lived in Nebraska and Idaho. She graduated from Union College with a degree in business administration and worked for several years in this field before returning to Union for a second degree in education with field endorsements in mathematics, computer science and business. In 2001, she moved to Minnesota to teach mathematics at MWA and has been teaching here for 15 years. LaVeta received a masters in mathematics from St. Cloud State University.

Some of LaVeta’s interests include curling up in a cozy chair with a good book, spending hours searching and trying out interesting pins on pinterest, and spending time with family.
