Pastor Abner Aguilar was born and raised in Mexico. His parents were teachers at several Adventist academies. His family immigrated to the United States in 1991, first living in California and later moving to New Mexico.
While his parents and older sister have made New Mexico their home since 1993, pastor Abner has been on the move, living in other states like Texas, Oregon, Nebraska, Minnesota and Michigan. He also spent summers in Oklahoma, Missouri, and the Dakotas working for different summer camps.
He obtained his theology degree from Union College and, a few years back, completed his MDiv, at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, MI. It was at a Christmas party, right before his last full semester of seminary, that pastor Abner met the love of his life, Kara, and they were married 10 months later.
Since then, the Aguilars have worked closely together in ministry, first at The Edge district for almost 4 years, and since August 2020, as a pastoral team, here at the Hutchinson SDA Church.
Pastor Abner and Kara enjoy the outdoors. They love visiting as many state parks as possible on their days off, and they enjoy hiking, birding, and nature photography. Throughout the year, they also try to have ongoing Bible studies, which lead people closer to Jesus and the Advent truth.
