Cali Hann
Head Girls’ Dean, Intramurals & Technology
Cali Hann is a second generation boarding school dean, although she didn't know this would be how God would lead in her life. Born in Michigan to Skip and Terry Hann, she lived in many states (including Minnesota) growing up, as her father was a boys' dean at various Adventist schools, including Maplewood. Cali graduated from Great Lakes Adventist Academy in the late '90s and then went on to Andrews University to obtain a degree in Elementary Education. She rounded out her education at the University of Dayton with a master's in educational technology. Putting her education to work back in the Adventist system that had shown her so much grace and love growing up, she taught middle school for 19 years at various Adventist schools, the most recent of which was 12 years at Spring Valley Academy in Ohio.
An interesting midlife career pivot led her to becoming Dean Hann, Jr., if you will, and she learned the ropes of deaning at Georgia Cumberland Academy before God led her back to her childhood home at Maplewood–although she now resides in the girls' dean’s apartment rather than the boys'.
When she isn't hanging out with the teenage girls in the dorm, Dean Hann enjoys anything nature or art related, being out on the water, snowboarding, OneWheeling, animals, traveling to new countries, and spending time with her daughter, Dahlia, who is a sophomore enrolled in the Speech Pathology program at Andrews University.
Cali hopes to share with the young ladies under her charge how understanding our true identity in Christ can transform our lives and lead us home.
