Dean David Campillo was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Jose and Delores Campillo. He moved to Berrien Springs, Michigan, when he was 7 years old. His father worked at Andrews University in the Plant Service Carpentry Department. Dean learned trades from his father in carpentry, welding, plumbing, and electrical fields, and, ultimately, Dean went on to work in plant services while in college.

During high school, he attended Great Lakes Adventist Academy, as well as Andrews Academy. He worked in construction after graduating from academy and then settled into landscape construction and development. He loves planting trees, working on cars and dirt bikes, and making art. His daughter, Dahlia, is a sophomore speech pathology student at Andrews University.

Dean is excited that God has called him to use his skills, to serve others, and to be a part of the very special Maplewood Academy family.
