Sara Swanson
Volunteer Advancement and Alumni Ambassador
After growing up on Maplewood's campus, Sara graduated from Maplewood in 1993. She graduated from Union College in 1996 with degrees in History and English: Writing and Speaking, and she graduated from the University of MN Law School in 1999. Sara married her highschool sweetheart, Brent Lane ('92) on 5.26.96 –2 weeks after they both graduated from college. Sara and Brent have been blessed with 4 kiddos –2 of whom graduated from Maplewood already (Anders in '22 & Annika in '24) and 2 of whom are currently attending (Oskar–'28 and Olaf–'30).
In Feb. of 2026, Sara felt God laying it on her heart to scale back her law practice to take on a DELIGHTFUL volunteer job at Maplewood where she gets to help people find joy in giving to a cause they care deeply and passionately about, like her. When God provided over $7,000,000 in gifts from June of 2025 through the Spring of 2026, Sara stood in awe of God's goodness, faithfulness, and desire to bless His school. She wants each student to know that God not only loves them, but that He also likes them as they grow in His grace each day and share the best news ever with the rest of the world.
